Did you know that Ground Angus Sirloin only has 150 calories and over 20 grams of protein for 4 ounces of meat?
After discovering that, it was time to make a stockpile of Runner safe burgers…NO more, “you can do it, swallow it” dry Turkey Burgers!
Once our local Pig (Piggly Wiggly) was stocked with meat in the midst of the Pandemic, it was time to experiment.
I was raised in a big family, so we always had to stretch the protein with a filler to feed the massive family. I reached for the riced cauliflower/ broccoli mix, egg and minced onion. It smelled like heaven! I brought out the scale and stretched 12 ounces of angus into 7 hamburger patties!

I saved one for dinner and froze the remaining for upcoming cookouts. Then, I fried that baby in a pan and turned that 76 calorie burger into a sink sandwich.

I piled Boars Head 3 Pepper Spice and Jalepeno cheese on the other side. Then, I added sliced cherry Tomatoes, spinach and Giardiniera. This all fit onto a bun that was gutted…the fluffy one helped eat that excess.
On first glance, it was colorful and it also smelled like heaven. It was amazing to taste. Wow! This runner will not miss summer burgers anymore!
