Baby Whitey, the Leghorn Chicken, was born with a weapon for a beak! After bloodying a sister, Momma’s tired.
Rewind, our Polish baby squawked about her mild constipation and wham, someone bloodied that butt. There was no pasting, she spoke too loud and was pecked to bloodshed. While it was nice to know we had a mild issue to deal with, it didn’t deserve blood shed. Seriously, reviving a Polish chick with mild issues was not an easy feat. It was a hand fill of soaking, video monitoring and another hyperactive Polish, yet forgiving friend to accompany the discomfort.
From looking at other Chicken posts, we got a tip to look for the perpetrator. She was easy to find. After 45 seconds of observation, it was obvious. Ms.Whitey was chasing and pecking at the feet, yes, feet, of the White headed Polish, the “easy , yet hyper friend, of the bloodied Buffed Lace Polish”. Naturally, we put her into exile in hopes of bringing her down a notch in the pecking order. We also wanted the Polish to regenerate.
With that weapon beak, it seems like she will climb back to the top of the pecking order in an instant! The question remains, do we clip Whiteys beak or keep her in exile?
