Yep, we live on a lake and we get wet floors…they are not the result of him.

Yeah, he needs baths in the summer too, so it was time to install an outdoor shower. I went to my favorite store, Amazon prime and it was evident ALL offered products were overpriced or overseas low quality products. I had an idea! What if I get an exposed shower system?
There it was, $119.99 and free shipping and returns! Sold to the gal in the pink shirt!

Then, I headed to Home Depot. I walked in and the sales staff were energetic and supportive. They directed me to the wood aisle, helped me learn about the new treated lumber. Instead of icky green treated wood, someone figured out how to make it cedar Brown! I love Materials Engineering Technology!
The staff cut my wood for free and loaded into my car. The guy was inquisitive about my project and my sweet wheels. Naturally, I filled him in on our outdoor shower and he was super friendly. What a neat store!

I had to wait till the weekend to start the project. I had no build plans and contemplated how to build it. I looked at other ideas…most were permanent fixed, but we lived in Frigid Wisconsin. It had to be mobile.
I made it up on the fly. I used the spare cut piece from the 10 foot board I bought as a base. Then, I kept thinking about my boy’s super tall friends. The shower head had to be 6’5″.
Then, I went to work using all the skills I learned from my Dad, as a kid. I was good about drilling starter holes, lining things up, used symmetric proportions and measured 2x. I had a last minute add for a 4×4 treated 6ft backer that caught my eye in the garage attic. I drove my favorite 4 inch nails into them and topped off the base with 3 inch wood screws.
At the point of drilling bigger holes for the hot and cold water inlets, I got scared something would break. I recalled my high school teachers scar on his face. It was from a drill bit breaking and flying into his cheek. Naturally, I reached for the nearest safety device…my Shoei helmet. I drilled and drilled. One of the bits broke, but after it was used. Whew! Finally the holes were done.

I contemplated putting wheels on it, but decided against it. I didn’t want to slow down momentum. Also, I could also add them later.
I grabbed our dolly and wheeled that baby into a corner nook by our house. We didn’t use that spot and it was perfect for a shower. Odddly, it had a pvc pipe drain too!
All I had to do was wait for the plumber to put in 2 new spicketts. Parts were on order, and hopefully this baby is almost complete..no more wet floors!
