On the athlete runner diet, the 100 calorie Chicken Brat was on my mind all day long. As I finished my desk job day, I put on another hat.
I pulled kids around the lake, on tubes. It was satisfying…1 kid never fell off and a 2nd fell off more than once but was in fine shape. Whew!
Then, I put on another hat and went swim suit shopping for the umpteenth time of the season. Yuck! It was demoralizing, and intriguing. I was after a utilitarian suite. I needed something that would dry quickly for the important moments in life…pulling kids on tubes, sand castles and waterskiing…
Eventually, it was found! Nike delivered!

Then, it was time for supper…I dragged that task out till 8:45pm…debated skipping but the Garmin convinced me not to…I was low on protein and didn’t want to be soar from the routine running or accidental overtaxing from the boating, care of baby chickens, exercising or gardening.
I took the plung and dug into the refrigerator for protein. Purposely, I reached past the super nummy Boars Head for the plain Chicken brat. I dressed it with hot jalapenos, Steamers Broccoli, Hot sauce and 0 calorie Pickles. Then, I topped that bowl with cheese! I pulled out my tub of cheeses and weighed the pluses and minuses of each.
1-4) The aged was salty but didn’t melt well…that axed the Bellavitano, Asagio, 2, and 11 yr aged.
5) The basic cheddars didn’t melt well either…no classic cheddar.
6) Mozzarella was not good with brats
7) The Habanero Pepper was a waste with real peppers
8) American wasn’t authentic
9) Colby was boring
10) Parmesan was not a good mix
11) Then, there was the Monteray Jack Pepper Cheese! Perfect! I don’t know how it found that name but it seemed pretty perfect with a low cal and fat Chicken brat!

Overall, it was a perfect pairing of hot, much needed protein and spices. It was about 300 calories and worth every penny.
