We donated a record 68 Pounds of produce to our local Food Pantry!

We donated 68 Lbs of tomatoes and bananas in a single week! That takes our season tally to 302 lbs donated!

We had a smorgasbord of Tomato delights!

Beefy Tomatoes totaled 18.8 lbs alone!

How did we do it? Green Bananas! In the last week, we used 12 lbs of bananas to push ripening! They emit ethylene which promotes softening and transforming the skin to ripe.

Our variety of tomatoes included Heirloom Brandywine, Green Zebra, Black Prince, German Matina, Black Cherries, Sweet Red Cherries, Yellow Cherry Pears, Romas, San Marzano, Spaghetti Squash and tons on Bananas that were used for ripening! What a fun week.

Let’s refresh how to donate to your community:

1) Google your local pantry hours or setup an appointment.

2) Fill your car trunk with boxes or bags of produce.

3) Drive into their parking lot and ring the bell or give them a call that you’re there with a donation.

4) Volunteers come out of the building and remove the produce, often wowing and stating wild surprise at a rare treat!

5) Drive home with a warming feeling of giving back.
