Yesterday, we donated 62 lbs to our local pantry!
How did we donate vegetables in November? In October, we picked all the green vegetables when highs in our Northern state couldn’t surpass 55 F each day?
Aside from heated grow tents we placed the green tomatoes into Brown bags and loaded them with green bananas. They started the ripening process with ethylene released to the stem.

Zebras!

Naturally, we popped each banana off the stem to initiate the process. We hoped for a slow ripening process but we are fully aware of how it could be too fast.

All in all, we were effective!
We were able to donate a massive load of 62 lbs.

The monster 3/4 lb tomato was somehow lost in the donation and it came back to us. Naturally, it was therefore eaten.
There are amazing rewards that come back to you when you participate in donating your time and skills. That massive Beefsteak was a welcome boost for the, let’s be real… backbreaking work. Interestingly, I think that the Good Lord sees those efforts and rewards those that help others, even if they give too much.
Here’s to Thanking the good Lord for all he’s provided to us all.
Truly, we can easily understand the reasons for the Thanksgiving season. If you have money or time, consider how they can be used for your neighbors in need.
