It’s really cold in our Northern Wisconsin state, -2 degrees with a -15 degree wind chill, so making cheese crisps was on the schedule. Naturally, we had 4 cups of sharp cheddar cheese, 1-1/3 cups of butter and 2 cups of all purpose flour on hand.

We put them in a quart sized bag and beat them together.

Then, we added 2 egg yolks.

It was all mashed into bread crumbs and chilled for 30 minutes while the oven heated up to 400 degrees.

We rolled out the mixture and went to work with the cookie cut outs. The young shadow helped cut them out too.

It was fascinating to watch them bake.
When they came out of the oven browned, we put Hymilayin salt on them.

A few pans later, we realized we had too many. Thankfully, we phoned a friend and they were interested in giving them a try. On my weekend chore run, I dropped them off and she gave them a try and offered hot tea.
We had a grand time catching up on the crazy times. Who knew that the freezing weather would lead to such an adventure?
