Snow is flying and I can’t help but wonder how every year my fastest tempos occur when it arrives. As a Master’s Track and Road Racer, I like to stay fit year round.

In the late Fall, in the off season, I eat semi normal. I still eat cauliflower every day, but pretzel rolls somehow appeared on my plate this morning.

It makes me wonder how my fastest recorded tempo in my entire life- 2 miles at 6:25 pace- occurred last night.

I am up 10lbs over my summer race weight, yet never ran that fast. I will never understand the perfect weight to race, but I’ll take it!
